What kind of editing do I need?

What will this cost?
An excellent question, and the answer depends on the size of the project and the level of complexity. This determines how many hours the work will take. A phone call to discuss your project is free, and ensures all your needs are clearly understood. This is the time to talk about any special aspects of your project and also any timeframes or deadlines. After the phone call and an assessment of your project, a free estimate is provided. You can then accept the estimate and your work will begin.
What do I get?
You are always given a ‘clean’ version of your work with all changes incorporated, plus a ‘marked-up’ copy, where you can see every change that has been made in Track Changes in Microsoft Word. Additionally, you are given author’s notes including suggestions and feedback, which are positive and encouraging, yet clear and honest. It may then require some changes to be made by the writer, or extra material to be added, after which the manuscript can be given a second polish and last read-through.
My biggest worry was 100% sharing such a personal story. So many of us keep our secrets to ourselves and worry that we may be looked at differently if we share something so personal.
So the most important thing with Karen was her honesty, respect and communication. When sharing such a personal story, it’s hard enough writing the words with the intent of putting it all out there.
